Samsung X22 Laptop - Operating System Not Found

My girlfriend just tried booting her laptop and was greeted by this scary message "Operating System Not Found". After several more boot up attempts and re-seating the hard drive, it booted fine and even loaded the hibernated session.

Edit on 11th Feb 2009:

After further problems the hard disk was declared dead by Samsung.
